What happened to the best player to come out of high school last year? He failed academically to make it into the University of Arizona and charged over to Italy to grab some gourmet pasta, bread with butter, and a professional contract playing for Rome is what happened. That’s right, Brandon Jennings the number one high school prospect last year according to multiple sources, failed academically to make it into college. So instead he went with his family overseas and didn’t “waste” his time at a University. Time in a classroom without a projector showing highlights of a basketball game is considered wasteful to professional basketball players that pay their agents to think and act intelligently in their interests. So Jennings played ball in Italy this past year and with new eligibility has entered himself into the 2009 NBA draft. To answer what questions probably will follow, yes this is footage of me at the Sonoma State rec center yesterday and yes I did get lucky. Still I have a pretty good handle on the ball which goes to show I have spent plenty of time on the court. I wanted to show those readers who have not seen me play that I’m a decent player even though undersized and was hoping footage like this could serve as credibility that I’ve been around the game.
Alright so I’m slightly late with this one but that doesn’t matter because it’s still worth viewing. Below is a video of Steve Nash on the David Letterman Show after game 3 of the NBA finals. To put it simply, Nash is hilarious. He is a natural with a mike in hand and I’m hoping once he retires he jumps on board with ESPN because it would be great to see more of this.
Tonight I went over to the local Walgreens to see if I couldn’t interview a random person or two about my blog. I hit the jackpot because the third person I interviewed was this young looking college student who had made it to my site the prior day. Not only was she good looking but she knew a little about what she was talking about. Check this out below and notice that she carries a massive pink purse that is unnecessary.
Were you lucky enough to have watched a game in which Earl Boykins played? If you were then your probably smirking right now while saying to yourself, “Boykins was the man.” Yes he was. When he played in the NBA he represented everything that doesn’t make sense in the world. He defyed gravity. He was David battling Goliath. He was awesome and better to watch on television from an overhead perspective than courtside where you probably couldn’t see him half the time hiding behind a giant. He was faster and stronger than anybody expected. He was only 5’5″ and believe it or not he would out bench most of his team.
Boykins had a good career in the NBA. He played a total of 10 seasons for a few different teams. He almost always came off the bench and provided instant offense. To summarize he was a great role player. Well in August of 2008 he officially became Italy’s highest paid player for this 2008-2009 season signing a one year contract for $3.5 million. He no longer is just a role player and is earning a salary and a starting position that is finally showing him the respect he has always deserved. I just thought I would keep you all informed. Oh and to those European teammates of his: next time Boykins hits a game winning shot, don’t pick him up off the ground and don’t pat him on the top of his head. Maybe let him chest bump the towel boy instead or something?
A few years back Shaquille O’neal, Lebron James, and Dwight Howard met at half court during the 2007 All-Star weekend Eastern Conference practice to determine who had the best moves without a basketball in hand. It’s true they had a dance off. I’m guessing based on personality that either Shaq or Dwight requested this moment. Either way, hands down Shaq showed the youngsters what was good for them. Imagine trying to move swiftly and fluently as a seven foot 300 pound dude with a size 23 shoe. After watching this video you will know that your not the only one who dances in front of the mirror to make sure you’ll look good in the club that Saturday night.
It is amazing how many sports reporters manipulate the summary of a sports game. Not just reporters but “professional” analysts as well tend to select specific stats to use and always omit others in order that it looks like they know exactly what there talking about.
This evening I found an article on a very popular site that I felt was very biased in the way in which it was written. The reporter simply did not include the correct information to make his argument fair. With this in mind I dug up the stat sheet for the first two games between the Lakers and Magic to produce some other stats to show you below. It’s always good to hear the rest of the story.

Howard has been to the free throw line 7 more times than Kobe in these first 2 games.

One of this year’s biggest emerging rap stars is a fan of Kobe Bryant. Lil Wayne, the son of Bird Man, wrote a song very recently in tribute to Kobe Bryant’s dominance on the court. Now as much as I dislike Bryant for threatening Michael Jordan’s brilliance when he played, Bryant is one of the best in the league and deserves a song about his efforts.
Stephen A. Smith, an NBA analyst for ESPN, starts the track by explaining why Bryant is in many opinions, the best there is in the league. This is truly a great song and as always Lil Wayne will make you laugh with an impressive array of rhymes and lines. As Wayne sings in the song, ” Don’t worry Lebron, get’em next year.”
